Law of Closure

Creating shapes that are not there

Description

The human brain combines multiple shapes to shapes that actually do not even exist. That means that there can be gaps between elements and the human brain might add the missing parts to the object.

Every UX designer should know the law of closure as we need to put UI elements that have the same functionality or are related to each other in some other way close to each other. If a UX Designer creates an online shop it is advisable to place the price, the purchase-, add to wish list-button and amount-selector at the same place as they belong to the purchasing process and therefore are perceived as one group.
